The Office of
Deacon
Deacons are servant-leaders called and recognized by the church to care for its members, support its pastors, and guard its unity. Their ministry is one of the most vital in the life of a local church.
Kimmy leads the deacon body at FBC Gordon, serving as a liaison between the deacons and pastoral staff. Under his leadership, the deacons faithfully serve the congregation, care for families in need, and support the mission of the church in Gordon and beyond.
Called to serve
the church
The word "deacon" comes from the Greek diakonos — meaning servant. Deacons are not rulers of the church but its humble servants, set apart to minister to practical and spiritual needs so that pastors can devote themselves to prayer and the Word.
The office of deacon is rooted in Acts 6, where the early church selected faithful men to ensure that no one was overlooked and that the whole body was cared for. This same spirit defines the deacons of FBC Gordon today.
Deacons at FBC Gordon visit members, minister to families in crisis, assist with the ordinances, and serve in whatever way the church needs — all as an act of worship and love for Christ and His people.
